The situation
Cisco needed React capacity on an internal calendar product for a defined stretch of work. This one is short because the engagement was short, and that is worth showing rather than padding: a scoped three-month expert engagement is a real and useful shape, and it is close to what a modernization sprint looks like today.
My role
React UI developer building features against existing backend services.
The challenge
A short engagement gives you no time to earn context gradually. The work was to become useful inside an established codebase and an established team quickly, and to leave behind features that team could maintain without the person who wrote them.
The outcome
Features delivered with unit and end-to-end coverage, on a codebase that stayed the team’s to maintain.
